MORRINSVILLE ART GALLERY

This is a community project carried out in partnership with the Matamata Piako District Council and the Wallace Trust. The principle gallery in the iconic new building will have exhibitions curated from the Trust’s Collection on a continuous basis with a change of works four times a year. The balance of the building will include community exhibition spaces.

Positioned adjacent to the Morrinsville Town Library, the whole gallery will be available for community events and for companies and others to host their own functions.

Plans include:
• a gallery for works from the Wallace Trust Collection
• a gallery for exhibitions from local artists
• sculpture garden
• education facilities and a café

TheNewDowse

TheNewDowse, which recently had an exciting $6 million upgrade, has formed a partnership with The James Wallace Arts Trust.

A section of the building has been named The James Wallace Trust Wing within which is the Wallace Trust Gallery. There is also a Wallace Wall which has been set aside for the Trust on a permanent basis to feature works from the Trust Collection. These will be changed on a regular basis.

The Exhibition of Winners and Selected Finalists of the annual Wallace Art Awards now travels each year to TheNewDowse. The 2010 Awards will run from the 22 October - 28 November.
