The Need for Sponsorship

Partners are sought to contribute towards the ongoing operational costs, the mounting of the Annual Art Awards events and for ongoing costs of exhibitions and exhibition openings at the TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre; resulting in substantial benefits to New Zealand art and artists.

The TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre is the largest public art gallery in New Zealand to operate without central or local government funding and is open to the public free of charge. The James Wallace Arts Trust has provided significant funding for the fit out of the arts centre and continues to provide funds and resources for operational costs, the Annual Wallace Art Awards, as well as many other art organisations and artists.

Visitor attendance has far exceeded the predicted 15,000 estimated in its first year, reaching 130,000 in a year, and a recent survey reveals that we attract a wide and varied audience.  This is due to a synergy of unique factors, including the diverse range of the Trust’s Collection shown in the regularly changing exhibitions; the art centre’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere; an appreciation of the restoration and the architecture of the building, and the garden and Monte Cecilia Park; and the service and quality of the Pah Café.
