Traversing Cultures: New Zealand Chamber Soloists with violinist James Jin
Wednesday 13 November 2019, 7–9pm
Creating and sharing music can model diversity in ways we don’t readily see in other parts of our lives. Music is able to transcend all cultural and lingual barriers. For the performers and audience, it can elicit similar emotions in individuals, regardless of our backgrounds and it enables us to share culture and history. The New Zealand Chamber Soloists are about to embark on a tour of China to strengthen musical connections between the University of Waikato and a range of music institutions throughout China. Joined by Chinese-born, New Zealand violinist, James Jin, principal 2nd violin of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the NZCS will present works by Chinese composers (Gao Ping and Xu Tang) and NZ composers (Mike Williams and John Psathas). Join them at the Pah for this special evening of music diversity.
Tickets: $30 / $15 concession
