Music at Midday: Opera & Piano from Europe & Japan

Opera and Piano with Yuko Takahashi & Setsuko Strang

Join us for an hour of songs and arias from Italy, France, Spain and Japan, by Rossini, Puccini, De Falla,  and the Japanese composers Yamada and Nakada. Setsuko will play a piano solo by Poulenc.

YUKO TAKAHASHI (mezzo soprano)
Yuko has sung a number of operatic roles both in Japan and in New Zealand, including the title role in Rossini’s Cinderella, as well as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, and Suzuki in Maddama Butterfly.  She continues to give recitals both in New Zealand and Japan. 

SETSUKO STRANG (piano)
Setsuko was born in Hokkaido.  Since graduating,  she has worked as a piano teacher and accompanist both in Japan (The William Wu Voice Academy) and in New Zealand. She has been studying with Yumiko Pilott and Brian Sayer.


Music at Midday returns to Pah Homestead with an hour of free live music from 12 to 1pm each Saturday.

Auckland is rich with a diverse range of creative musical talent and we celebrate this every week.  Sit down in the drawing room to enjoy the live music, or peruse the galleries while you listen to the music drifting through the building.
